This portrait was created during my residency at the Vermont Studio School in the summer of 2017. The image was created using a rubber stamp and ink.
Why these words?
The entire image is composed of the names of the six most popular depression medications in America. I feel that while the image is recognizable, the text adds context and a psychology to the work.
Zoloft, Prozac, Celexa, Lexapro, Paxil and Luvox are the names of the depression medications stamped into the image.
Below are some details that show the stamped text. The ink and stamping process allowed for texture and gradation of light and dark to define the image. In the details, you can see the words as well as how the stamping process can create light and dark.
