Similar to my stamped self portrait, this work was also done during my residency at the Vermont Studio Center in 2017. The title of this work stems from an essay by Comanche curator and writer Paul Chaat Smith.

I again used a stamping process with ink and text to create the image. In this work, I chose to stamp the six characteristics of a person who grew up without a father figure present in the household.

Rigidity, stress, emotional instability, poor boundries, unstable relationships and attention seeking are characteristic of a person who grew up with an abstentee father.
