The Peon Players is a sculptural work that presents four players in a traditional Southern California gambling game called Peon. The four players hide behind a blanket and hide game pieces in their hands and the opposing team has to guess their position: right hand or left hand.
What I find interesting is that Indian people who know the game will see this as a familiar part of our culture, but non-Indians may see this as a bizarre, surreal assemblage.
